Safaricom fete David Rudisha for his sterling performance

million by Kenya leading  mobile service provider
Safaricom(Approximately US $.25,000)
Safaricom Sponsorship manager Wangui Kibe said Rudisha will get the
Sh1 million (US $ 12,500) the company had pledged for any gold
medalist in the just concluded Olympics in London and the additional
one million shillings for his world record breaking feat at the Summer
Games.
   
The money Rudisha will receive from the company is the same as what
the United States Government is giving as bonus  to Athletes who
attained Gold medals  in London.
The other athlete at the London Olympics expected to receive Sh1
million is World 3000m steeplechase champion Ezekiel Kemboi the other
gold medalist.
   
Wangui was speaking when announcing a KSh1.5 million to this year’s
Mombasa International Marathon scheduled for this coming Sunday .

Athletics Kenya (AK) President Isaiah Kiplagat said  they were
constituting an organising
committee that will be running the country's four major marathons
namely the Standard Chartered International marathon in Nairobi, Kass
marathon, Kisumu Marathon,and Mombasa International marathon.
    
The chairman said AK was seeking for sponsors to boost it so that
winners can be feted with the same prize money to make it equal.

He said a winner in the Stanchart marathon pockets 1.5million, Kass
marathon (Sh1 million), Sh250, 000 in Kisumu and Sh200, 000 in Mombasa
which is not equal that it cannot be able to make it succesful.
Kiplagat asked Safaricom to partner with other like minded corporates
and boost the for marathons.
