Kamukunji
Kamukunji Constituency is
represented in Kenya Parliament by a Journalist turned politician Yusuf Hassan
who was born in 1958 and he trounced the former area MP Mr. Simon Mbugua during
a by election precipitated by a court ruling that nullified Mbugua`s election
as the area MP.
He represents a cosmopolitan constituency
with highest number of it comprised of people of Somali origin which he himself
is a member of it but a Somali of Kenyan origin
Eastleigh market which is
found in his constituency contributes quiet a good revenue to the country`s GDP
and majority of traders there are Somalis some from the war country Somalia.
Yusuf who is highly educated
was elected in 2011 on the platform of development is yet to be seen
implementing that and the constituent want him to help in the repair of roads
in the constituency especially in the economically hub Eastleigh area.
Westlands
Fredrick Fidelis Omulo Gumo
is the Member of Parliament for Westlands, a constituency by both the super
wealthy Kenyans and poor people. Gumo who is popularly known as ``Kaa ngumu`` a
Swahili word meaning don`t be shaken is also the Minister for Regional
Development and acting Minister for Local government after then Minister in
that Ministry Mr.Musalia Mudavadi resigned after he decamped from Prime
Minister Raila Odinga led Orange Democratic Party (ODM) to United Democratic
Front (UDF).
Gumo was a great supporter to
former President Daniel Arap Moi in Nairobi City during his rule when he got
stiff opposition from then opposition leaders led by current Prime Minister
Mr.Raila Odinga, former political detainees and Cabinet Ministers Charles
Rubia, Kenneth Matiba, the late Nobel Peace Laureate Prof.Wangari Muta Maathai
among others.
He is currently a great asset
to Odinga who is garnering for Presidency in next year`s General election.
There was mixed reactions to Gumo`s development record in his constituency some
saying he has done very little while others saying that he has tried.
