Sofapaka put up a gallant show to defeat Nationwide League leaders
Mahakama 4-2 to book a ticket to the round of 16 in the FKF Cup after
beating Mahakama 4-2 at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.
Humphrey Mieno emerged the day’s hero after scoring a hat trick to
land the 2010 champions to the quarterfinals of the tournament.The
winner will represent the country in the Africa Confederation Cup.
Mieno was on the score sheet after just three minutes, crashing home a
25 yard scorcher to underline his superiority.
Osborne Monday made it 2-0 in the 26th minute before Mieno added the
third in the 37th minute after combining well with John Barasa.
Mahakama tactician Ezekiel Akwana who was facing his former club
made several changes that made great impact.The lawmakers waged
countless attacks that saw Sofapaka defender Felly Mulumba handle the
ball in the danger zone.Taking the resultant spotkick,Ambrose Kamau
made no mistake thus giving them a life line.
Mahakama suffered a massive blow midway in the second half after
Amos Ochieng was red-carded for a second bookable offence in the
danger zone.Mieno stepped up and made no mistake from the resultant
freekick.
Despite being a man down, Mahakama attacked their rivals and got a
goal back late on through Brian Kaka, who slotted home after a
goalmouth melee.
Sofapaka will thus face the winner between AFC Leopards and Congo JMJ
United in the last eight.

edging out stubborn Western Stima 5-4 on post match penalties after a
1-1draw in normal duration time.
The reigning KPL Top 8 Cup champions took an early lead in the 7th
minute through a perfect free-kick from Moses Otieno that gave Ben
Mandela no chance in the Stima goal.
However, Ali Bai restored parity in the 27th minute heading home
Jackson Saleh’s well curved free-kick after Musa Mohammed fouled
Alloyce Mangi on the left channel.
With the score tied at 1-1, at the end of the regulation time, the
winner was decided on penalties.
Tanzanian international keeper Ivo Mapunda was the hero of the day
after saving David Otieno's shot before Dan Sserenkuma scored the
decisive kick to send K'ogalo through to the next round.
Gor's other penalties were scored by Ivan Anguyo, Moses Odhiambo,
Kevin Omondi and Donald Mosoti while Fredrick Shimonyo, Mark
Sirengo,Alloys Mangi and Job Omusse netted for Stima.
Gor will now meet the winner between Muhoroni Youth and Kakamega Homeboyz.

FC 2-1 in a match staged at the Hope Centre.
In the only Tusker premier League(KPL) tie Chemelil Sugar beat
Ulinzi Stars 1-0 at Chemelil Sports complex.The all important goal
was scored by Jared Obuogi in the 21 st minute after tapping home
Chris Litswa cross.
With three new points, Chemelil now shots from tenth to eighth with
30 points from 23 matches. Ulinzi remains sixth with 37 points from 22
games.
Division One Zone a side KRA beat lower league side Wazito FC 1-2 in
an away game played at the Hope Centre.
Scorers for KRA were Collins Tiego and Richard Likhabu in the 22nd and
67th minute while Wazito pulled one back through Dennis Onyango in the
