Kenyan top clubs have thrown their weight behind Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in its bid to host this years East and Central Africa
Senior Challenge Cup.
The clubs were dismayed with the move by the CECAFA secretary General
of moving the event to Uganda disregarding the resolutions of the
congress that nominated Kenya as the hosts.
"We as clubs also enjoy the sponsorship of EABL in our league ,who are
also the tournaments sponsor, the sponsor has stated that they were
not party to the move as they do not dictate where the tournament
should be held," a statement from KPL said.
The clubs said Kenya met all the hosting obligations and the local
organizing committee was in place.
"We as clubs ,the statement added, are in solidarity with Football
Kenya Federation and urge the Congress to confirm the decision and
ensure that decisions of the congress are executed.'
The KPL had to adjust their fixtures in order to finish the league
early to accommodate the Senior Challenge .

Meanwhile,Kenya has pulled out of the Under 17`s African football Championship qualifier on September 9.
Football Kenya Federation CEO Lordvick Aduda
said the team withdrew from the event as the bulk of the players are
playing in the Copa Coca Cola tournament in South Africa.
“We are in a dilemma because the bulk of the players are playing in
the Copa tournament which ends on September 8 and our qualifier is a
day after that so we have opted to withdraw the team.” Aduda added.
Kenya were to play Tanzania and their
exit means Tanzania advances to
the next round of the event used as a qualification to the Fifa Under
17s tournament. The team was sourced from the Copa Coca Cola
tournament and was approved by FKF as the side that will represent the
country in the U17 international assignments
