AFC Leoprads,Tusker,Karuturi,Muhoroni sail to the FKF Cup quarter finals

AFC Leopards SC demolished Congo United 3-1, at Nyayo National Stadium
to sail through to the quarter finals of the FKF President’s Cup.
  The winners will now meet Sofapaka in the quarter final whose date
is yet to be announced.
    It was ‘old horse” Charles Okwemba who scored the match opener in
the 24th minute with a perfect header from Paul Were’s corner kick.
   The visitors were not overawed though, Timothy Otieno capitalized
for Congo after capitalizing on Leopards defence mix-up to slam the
ball home  for the equalizer past Goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.
  Congo players under the tutelage of JMJ soccer Academy gave Leopards
a run for their money with their midfield comprising of Omari Masika,
Carlson Mweresa, Martin Nderitu and Victor Malukwo reducing Leopards
to amateurs.
In the second half, the introduction of Mike Barasa and Victor
Ochieng' by Jan Koops soon paid dividends as the former combined very
well with Allan Wanga to score two more goals.
Barasa delivered a fine cross from a corner kick in the 77th minute
for Wanga to head home before the Kenyan international 81st minute
cross was also headed in by Barasa.
 Leopards coach Jan Koops said  his main focus is the Kenya Premier
League(KPL) title which he wants to be remembered  for by  the club
faithful.He said  at the moment each match is very important adding
that his team will need to raise up their game if they wish to instill
their presence .
     In other FKF Cup matches, KPL defending Champions Tusker
whitewashed Garissa based Wamo 13-0 at the Nairobi City Stadium.
  At Kingfisher grounds in Naivasha, Karuturi Sports were made to
struggle before defeating stubborn Nairobi Stima 4-3 on post match
penalties after a barren regulation time.The man of the match was
Karuturi custodian Noah Ayuku who saved two spotkicks.
   Regulation time was played to a barren draw, with Nairobi Stima
dominating the first half, and Karuturi taking charge of the second
half.
 Karuturi scored through Peter Juma, Jacob Omondi and Geoffrey Mosieba
while Stima converted their through Aziz Boniface, John Mbindyo and
Vincent Mbindyo.
Karuturi will now meet KRA in the next round.
 At Afraha Stadium, Talanta FC coached by Bob Oyugi caused a major
upset when they trounced former KPL side Nzoia Sugar 2-0. Scorers for
Talanta (Talent Academy) were James Kemboi and Abdulrahaman Hassan in
the 17th and 40th minute respectively.
    Muhoroni Youth also booked a ticket to the quarter finals after
edging out visiting Kakamega based Homeboys 2-1 at Muhoroni Grounds.
