Sofapaka set to trim two more players

Sofapaka President:Elly Kalekwa
By Fred Maingi
The axe is set to fall again on  two Sofapaka players  after head coach Stewart  Hall gave an early warning to his players to brace  up for another shake-up in their playing unit.
He went short of naming the two players adding that the  exercise will  be carried out before the League season ends.
Speaking at the Nairobi City Stadium after his  side eliminated Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA)  with a  2-1 triumph in the FKF Cup,Hall said the current number in the playing unit needs to be  trimmed down.
He said a squad of 28 players is  too much since few of them will not get playing space in the team.He said   a lean squad of 24 players could be ideal since  each player will be assured of a starting place within two or three weeks matches.
‘Personally I feel we  require a lean squad of 24 or 25 players. When you have many players, some become dormant and that is  why I’m planning to offload two players  before the end of the League season.I want to start the next season on a  sound note  with a lean squad that will give the team adequate results.’ The former Azam FC coach said.
He said since he joined the club, he has been unable to identify the  first eleven owing to the large squad.’However,  he added, I’m happy with the players  performance. The fighting spirit is there but we are still unable to translate our chances to goals.”
Few weeks ago,the club dismissed four players  among them Collins ‘Gatusso”Okoth,Uganda born Hakim Ssekumba,Hashim Mukhwana and Congolese born Kanamuli Kapilima.
The four termed the move to dismiss them as unfair and inhumane considering the club owes each more than three month salary.
Meanwhile Sofapaka FC were made to struggle before edging out stubborn Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) 2-1 in a  Football Kenya Federation(FKF) Cup quarter final tie staged at the Nairobi City Stadium.
Sofapaka experience saved them from the jaws of defeat as time and again, they were reduced to amateurs by the tax collectors.
