Gor Mahia
romped to the FKF semi finals after overcoming a stubborn Muhoroni Youth 4-2 on
post match penalties after the two rivals had fought to a barren draw in
regulation time.
Dan Sserenkuma
converted the wining penalty to book the semis ticket after Rama Salim,Moses
Odhiambo and Yusuf Juma had converted theirs. However George Midenyo saw his spot
kick crash on the woodwork.
Muhoroni had Ateng
Ibrahim and Gregory Nyapala convert theirs w hile David Oriki and Hamisi Mwinyi
skied their attempts.
In regulation time of
play, both sides squandered numerous opportunities moreso in the second half
where there was fierce duel.
Gor though enjoying
high possession in the closely fought battle could not find the target in
regulation time as their striker spanned the chances that came their way.
The best chance that
would have won Gor the game went begging in the 73rd minute when
Moses Omondi made great solo effort rounding off Muhoroni defenders to set Dan
Sserenkuma who blasted wide from the box.
Omondi also missed a
clear cut chance three minutes later from an acute angle in the right flank.
In a give and take
affair Muhoroni answered back in return and K’ogalo could have been
found flat footed in the 78th minute when striker Hamisi Mwinyi just
had Ivo Mappunda to beat but his attempted chip went inches wide.
At the Moi
International Sports Centre Kasarani Tusker beat Talanta FC 2-0 to set a date
with Sofapaka Fc in the semis. Davin Nyanzi and Joseph Emeka struck in the 29th
and 47th minutes respectively to book the ticket.
Gor will now face off
with bitter rivals AFC Leopards in the semis in a derby reloaded on this
weekend .The two giants faced off three weeks ago where K’ogalo emerged
victorious wining 2-1.
