Kenya’s Harambee Stars head coach Henri Michel has
recalled Thika United prolific striker Moses Arita to beef up the
striking force ahead of truesday’s high profile friendly match against South
Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
The Thika striker, who was dropped last week, will
now compete with AJ Auxerre's Dennis Oliech, Genk's Ayub Timbe, Western Stima's
Wesley Kemboi and Mathare United's Andrew Tololwa for the starting place.
Apart from Arita, AFC Leopards midfielder Charles Okwemba
is also back in the squad that will face the 2013 AFCON finals hosts.
During the last meeting on February 2011, South Africa
beat Kenya 2-0 at home, courtesy of goals from Davide Somma and Steven Pienaar.
The team was expected to arrive in Nairobi on Saturday night from Poland where
they lost 1-0 in a friendly match staged in Warsaw.
Bafana Bafana head coach Gordon Igesund is using the two
friendlies to build a team for
the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament and Brazil 2014.
The 26-man squad named by Igesund has
34-year old Delron Buckley who came back to South Africa to wind up his career
with Premiership side Maritzburg.
The absence of Benni McCarthy due to injury means PSL
leading scorer Bernard Parker will carry the Rainbow nation's hopes. He
(Parker) has scored seven goals for Kaizer Chiefs in seven matches.
Apart from McCarthy, South Africa will also miss the
services of Siboniso Gaxa and Thulani Serero who are out on injury.
Everton' midfielder Steven Pienaar retirement from
international football means Bongani Khumalo will wear the captains armband
in Nairobi.
