Information Secretary roots for blackout on hate speakers.

An organization calling itself Mkenya Daima Initiative wants the media to give a blackout in news coverage to people and politicians who spread propaganda.
The organization comprises of people from the business sector, civil society and inter-religious groups with an aim of advocating for peace ahead of the March,2013 General.
During a media breakfast last week at a Nairobi hotel, Information secretary Ezekiel Mutua who spoke at the group’s media breakfast in Nairobi emphasized on the need for Media in the country to ignore politicians whom their speeches is full of incitement.
Mutua who is a seasoned Journalist and former trade unionist said that the media has taught politicians that if they dramatize their speeches by making inflammatory remarks they get airtime and space in the media and it`s now high time they teach them that if they make incitement speeches they will miss the coverage.
Other speakers at the function Polycarp Igathe and Vimal Shah called on the Journalists to practice responsible Journalism.
Meanwhile Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka opened an Eastern Africa Journalists Association workshop on media law reform campaign at a Nairobi hotel today morning where he also emphasized on the media to practice responsible and objective reporting as a means to harmonise and maintain peace in the region
