Councillor Gerald Kinoti may land in court for not paying money

Kinoti walking to Central Police station,Nairobi on Tuesday

A Councillor in Nairobi representing a ward called Zimmerman Mr Gerald Kinoti may soon face a legal suit in court after failing to pay Shs 120 000 he owes a contractor in Nairobi Mr.Simon Wainaina.

Kinoti(r,Wainaina (l) and Police officers when Kinoti was arrested by the two Police Officers
Kinoti who was given the sum of money to facilitate the contract of construction of staff toilets at Githurai Primary school in his ward in February this year according to Wainanina has failed to honour the contact and failed to refund the money after it emerged that their was no contract of toilet construction.

Wainaina was forced to record the matter at the Central Police station which was booked as OB/51 5/9/12 by the Police and was on Tuesday, September 11 arrested by Police from the station and pleaded with them not to book him in cells as he was going to pay Wainanina his money the following day (Wednesday, September 12).

Come Wednesday, the Councillor who also doubles up as a Church elder of PCEA Church in Zimmerman refused to pick Wainaina`s calls and when called by our reporter he said he was not aware of the matter.

Wainanina has confided to us that he has instructed his lawyer to file a case at the Nairobi court probably on Thursday, September 13.

It is our hope that the Councillor who is supposed to lead by example pays Wainaina his money and stop behaving in a manner likely to injure his reputation in the society as in the new Constitution which was promulgated in Kenya in 2010 leaders are elected on the basis of their integrity.
