Karuturi Sport defeated visiting Muhoroni Youth 1 – 0 in the only
Tusker Premier League (TPL) encounter staged on saturday at the
Oserian Stadium .
The newly signed Zzinde Hussein from Uganda proved he was the
hottest property in town when he scored the winning goal after 60
minutes. He capitalised on Harry Gentle’s misjudged clearance to beat
Muhoroni custodian Joseck Gathongo with a powerful shot that went
between his legs.
The win that takes Karuturi Sports to ninth place with 29 points
eased the pressure on coach Michael Nam whose tenure at the club was
under strict scrutiny.
Muhoroni remains 13th with 23 points, three off the drop
zone.Nevertheless, it was the visitors who gave their hosts a run for
their money in the early stages of the match. Muhoroni’s Collins
Neto came close to scoring in the second minute when his header from
an Ibrahim Ateng corner hit the post with Karuturi custodian Noah
Ayuku well beaten.
Former AFC Leopards and Muhoroni Youth captain Harry Gentle’s long
throws proved a constant threat with Karuturi defence marshaled by
Yusuf Siruma,Joshua Okeyo, and Titus Wamalwa losing focus on several
occasion.
The League continues on Sunday September 9th with Gor Mahia
hosting stubborn Sony Sugar at the Nairobi City Stadium.
