AFC Leoprads cry foul play on stolen money

By Fred Maingi in Nairobi
Kenyan Premier League (KPL) leaders AFC Leopards bank account is
missing Sh1.6 million withdrawn by unauthorized officials.
The team’s chairman Alex Ole Magelo said some individuals led by one
Sammy Aina Washiko purporting to be AFC’s officials withdrew the money
on August 1st.
A  bitter Magelo who was flanked by secretary General Winston
Kituyi, and organizing secretary Timothy Lirumbi named other culprits
as Henry Wasilwa Njalale,Mathew Opwora and Sammy Maina.
He said due to a court case they were unable to access the account
since April and when after case against his office was dismissed ,they
were surprised to find the account emptied only remaining with 82,000.
Magelo accused some of the bank’s staff of colluding with the
imposters to steal the money from their account.
The chairman said their lawyer has written to the bank’s legal
department for an explanation to be given within the next 24 hours.
“If they do not respond accordingly I will mobilize AFC Leopards fans
to storm the banking hall and demand for the money,” he warned.
Contacted,Aina dismissed Magelo’s sentiments  and threatened to sue
him for defamation.
Magelo wondered how the bank’s staff granted the withdrawal without
the bonafide signatories carrying out the transaction.
The official asked the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and
Criminal Investigations Department to probe the matter and have those
involved in the malpractice brought to book.
He threatened to institute legal proceedings against the bank.
Kituyi disclosed that the club Bus will be ready late next
week.He said they were unable to pick the Bus owing to the pending
court case.’But now that the  court has allowed us to access our
accounts, I can assure  you the  club bus  will be unveiled late next
week.We shall call you the media and our supporters  to witness the
occasion” Observed Kituyi
