MRC is one of the thirty-two groups among them Mungiki and Al-Shabaab that the Kenyan Government outlawed. Kenya Government said through the acting Internal Security Minister Mr. Yusuf Haji on Thursday that they have instructed the Attorney General Prof.Githu Muigai to immediately file an appeal against the ruling.

The youths presented the petition at the Office of the President and at the Prime Minister`s office. Below is the full statement that they delivered

PUBLIC PETITION PRESENTED BY YOUNG KENYAN PATRIOTS

TO
HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA E.G.H
M.P HON.MWAI KIBAKI

REF: ILLEGITIMATE GROUPINGS & NATIONAL SECURITY

WE the YOUNG KENYAN PATRIOTS with firm mandate as a representative of a majority of young Kenyans, eager and undeterred to own up to their patriotic duty as guaranteed by the constitution of the laws of Kenya, wish to bring to attention that the Mombasa Republic Council MRC remains a grave threat to the constitutional authority and territorial integrity of the republic of Kenya.

NOTING the recent high court ruling as regards MRC as a deliberate attempt by MRC to secure constitutional protection despite legitimate concerns by majority of Mombasa residents and indeed the rest of Kenyans that the existence of MRC negates nationhood

RECOGNIZING that in this delicate times in the making of our country history all must be done to ensure that the security and stability of the nation is upheld

FURTHER recognizing that though the constitution guarantees the freedom of association, the guidelines of such associations are well spelt out in the constitution and MUST at all time be respected and adhered to.

ACKNOWLEDGING that the concerns of a majority mwananchi remains the pivot point at which all judicial processes are anchored, in line with the constitution of the laws of Kenya hereby wish to state as follows:
Ø  THAT the government must not allow or give room for the existence of MRC or any other     organized outlawed grouping
Ø  THERE should be no government negotiations whatsoever with MRC or any other such like illegitimate grouping
Ø  INDEED the efforts by government to appeal the high court ruling are welcome and are appreciated by majority of Kenyans as a genuine measure to guarantee the security and stability of the country
Ø  APPEAL is made to the judiciary to uphold the spirit of mwananchi oriented jurisprudence in line with the spelt out judicial reforms framework

THE PRIME MINISTER

MINISTER OF INTERNAL SECURITY AND PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION
