Kenya dominats Bogota`s half marathon
July 29 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan runner Peter Kirui on Sunday won Bogota's Half Marathon, while his compatriot Gladys Cherono won the women's category.
Together with professional and amateur runners, 44,014 people participated in Bogota's Half Marathon.Kirui finished the race in one hour, two minutes and 20 seconds, while
Ethiopian Feyisa Lilesa arrived at the finishing line in the second place with the time of one hour, three minutes and 18 seconds. Wilson Chebet, also from Kenya, finished the
race with a time of one hour, four minutes and 19 seconds in the third place.
In the women's category, Cherono finished in one hour, 13 minutes and 27 seconds. The second position was for Ethiopian Abebech Afework with a time of one hour, 14
minutes and 49 seconds, followed in third position by Kenyan Helan Kiprop with a time of one hour, fifteen minutes and 56 seconds. The Kenyan athletes dominated the
Bogota's Half Marathon with also occupying the fourth, fifth and sixth positions in men's category. In the women's category, Kenyan runners also showed an obvious
advantage and occupied the fifth and seventh positions. (Xinhua)
